Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen and Newark have combined to strengthen their working relationship by reorganizing both divisions to work under one club management structure, in order to give players in both divisions a clear developmental and competition pathway.
CSA-Bergen & Newark have both been extremely successful in their own right for many years. With the divisions restructure we believe that this will only enhance the quality of our facilities, operations, staff and ultimately the development of each individual player. This restructure will give rise to CSA NORTH.
Saint Benedicts Prep School will now be Cedar Stars Academy official residential school program, offering students from across the country the opportunity to attend the #1 ranked high school soccer program in the US and also to be part of an elite soccer environment post the high school season with Cedar Stars Academy offering three levels of competition MLS Next, MLS Next 2 & USYS National League
ZONE 1 (U5 - U12)
CSA-Bergen & Newark will continue to run in separate locations for players U5-U12. Players placed in Zone 1 teams in each respective division will train and play out of that division. Players will have the chance to play and compete with each other when the teams will combine for Winter & Summer Select. Additional combined competitions/tournaments maybe added if club management feel it is appropriate.
ZONE 2 & 3 (U13 - U19)
CSA-Bergen & Newark will merge teams at the U13-U19 age groups. At these age groups there could be up to four levels of competitive soccer
1) MLS Next U13-U19, 10 Month Season (Aug-June)
2) MLS Next 2 U13 & U14,10 Month Season (Aug-June) U15-U19, 8 Month Season (Nov-June)

St. Benedict's Head Coach and Residential School Director
Director of Operations
"With this reorganization and improved structure we can now offer players from both divisions a competitive platform. The new alignment includes a High School and residential component at Saint Benedict’s of which I am very excited about. We will continue to work as one to find new and innovative ways to improve player development and find the right environment for each individual player.”
Anthony Nixon: Director of Football & Player Development.
"Building a stronger partnership between the two Cedar Stars Academy divisions, and the St. Benedict's Residential Program, is an exciting project for all involved. It will afford deserving players from the CSA Newark Division a clearer pathway into the MLS Next environment, and also helps strengthen the existing talent pool for the CSA Bergen MLS Next teams. The inclusion of the St. Benedict's Residential component allows us to open the doors to more comprehensive full-time programming and take a greater stand in the development of our players on and off the field."
Jim Wandling: St. Benedict’s Prep Varsity Head Coach & Residential School Director.
"With this realignment, we are able to come together to provide every possible developmental, competitive and educational platform and pathway for players in this region. This is an exciting new chapter in for CSA Newark players and staff as we look to work more directly with CSA Bergen in the MLS and EDP platforms to provide strength and depth to all the teams and new opportunities for all our players."
