Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen Awarded U18/19 Boys Development Academy Status for 2019-2020
South Hackensack, New Jersey
Cedar Stars Academy’s elite player pathway continues its impressive growth.
As officially announced by the United States Soccer Development Academy (DA) on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen County, the original branch of the elite youth soccer program located throughout New Jersey and New York, has completed its full boys DA status by being granted acceptance within the U18/19 Boys DA age group for the 2019-2020 season.
Thus, in addition to its development opportunities for the U8-U19 levels, Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen’s pathway has been extended within one of the most recognized standards of youth soccer competition available in the U.S. Next season, Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen County will offer play within the Boy’s Development Academy from U13 (2007) – U18/19 (2002/2001) and the Girl’s Development Academy for the U14 (2006) and U15 (2005) age groups, further solidifying its stance as one of the region’s top youth soccer programs.
Athletes 5 to 18 years old will now have a direct pathway to the top youth, collegiate, amateur, semi-professional and professional development opportunities through the resources and initiatives provided by the Cedar Stars Academy network.
“We are thankful for U.S. Soccer and the Development Academy’s recognition of Cedar Stars Academy as one of the top, youth soccer development programs in the country,” Cedar Stars Academy President George Altirs said. “Every year, when we look back on our continued success on and off the field, it is exciting to see the opportunities we are able to create for our athletes.
This designation was earned through the hard work of our current players, which are led by our professional coaches. Thank you to the players and their families for their support and belief in our program.”
Altirs founded Cedar Stars Academy in 2011. Since its inaugural season, the youth soccer academy has grown both regionally and nationally, earning state championships and winning regional showcase competitions.
Utilizing state-of-the-art facilities, such as the Capelli Sport Center – Carlstadt, NJ, Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen County offers a full-year program, led by Academy Director Anthony Nixon and his professional coaching staff.
"We are ecstatic that CSA-Bergen has received full academy status and that we have added that missing piece to our CSA Player Pathway on the boys side,” Nixon said. “Adding the U18/19 age group, in addition to the USL League Two team in the same year, shows our commitment to the development of our athletes and providing them with opportunities to showcase their abilities. It will be an exciting challenge ahead; one that everyone within the club is looking forward to."
With this designation, an additional element of the Cedar Stars Academy Player Development Pathway is added to the Bergen County division. Through the youth soccer academy’s affiliations, which include but are not limited to, MSV Duisburg of the 2. Bundesliga in Germany and Cedar Stars Rush of the USL League Two, a direct pathway to amateur, professional, international and domestic playing opportunities are available for members of the green and white family.
Open Tryouts with Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen for the 2019-2020 season will be held April 2019. All details can be found at the club’s brand new website: www.cedarstars.com/bergen.
