South Hackensack, New Jersey

Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen County, the original branch of the premier, youth soccer development program, has officially been named a Girls U.S. Soccer Development Academy (DA) club for the 2019-2020 season.

Per the announcement, Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen County will provide DA level training and competition for the U14 2006 and U15 2005 girls age groups during its first season within the program, August 2019 – June 2020.

According to the DA website, the league was created to impact everyday club environments to develop world-class players. Following a comprehensive review of elite player development in the United States and around the world, U.S. Soccer created the Boys DA in 2007, followed by the Girls DA in 2017. The Academy Program focuses on positively impacting everyday club environments to assist in maximizing youth player development across the country. In turn, The Academy sets the standard for elite environments for youth soccer clubs nationwide and is a part of U.S. Soccer's global leadership position in youth soccer that will impact thousands of players.

Founded in 2011 by President George Altirs, Cedar Stars Academy began as a youth soccer club focused on providing the very best coaching, training and facilities to athletes in northern New Jersey. Today, with more than 2,000 active male and female athletes, Cedar Stars Academy currently has nine branches throughout the northeast coast of the U.S., extending to the Midwest with a branch in Houston, TX. Two of these divisions, Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen County, NJ (Boys U12 – U17/ Girls U14-U15) and Cedar Stars Academy – Monmouth County, NJ (Boys U12-U19/ Girls U13-U19) are official member clubs of the DA, which is recognized around the U.S. as one of the top platforms for player development and competition.

"We are very excited to be a part of the Girls Development Academy,” Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen County Academy Director Anthony Nixon said. “We feel it is the right platform to showcase the Cedar Stars Academy - Bergen girls’ teams and ultimately the best environment for players to develop."

With full development curriculums for athletes U5 – U19, a professional technical staff led by Technical Director Tab Ramos, and its player development pathway, Cedar Stars Academy looks to continue its growth and movement within the academy structure as one of the country’s top programs for development on and off the field by providing every player the opportunity to achieve their soccer dreams.

"We are extremely excited for the opportunities this program provides for both youth players and our staff,” Cedar Stars Academy -  Bergen Girls General Manager said. “Being part of the DA will help us continue to integrate the pathway for our players by performing against some of the best players in their age groups across the country".

In preparation of the club’s inaugural season in the DA, Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen County will be hosting Talent ID Events for the 2006 and 2005 age groups Sunday, March 10, 2019 and Sunday March 31, 2019.
